1. Gain a general understanding of the expanse of association cortex as compared with primary sensory and motor cortices.

2. What is the general location of longitudinal bundles of axons in the white matter that interconnect parts of cerebral cortex.

3. Be able to locate Broca's and Wernicke's speech areas in the cerebral cortex.

4. Define aphasia. Summarize the language disorder resulting when either Broca's or Wernicke's area is damaged.

5. What is meant by "lateralization of functions"?

6. What has the "split- brain" preparation taught us about the "localization of functions"?
