EXAMS AND GRADING
- Quizzes (4): a short quiz will be given approximately every 2 weeks, usually at the beginning of the Monday review sessions lecture. They will last about 10 minutes each. We will keep the scores of only 3 of the 4 to add into your final score for the course, i.e., you can throw away one of them.
- Self-evaluation Quizzes (lots of 'em): You can reach them through the WEEKLY QUIZZES icon in the top menu bar.
- Midterm Exam: A midterm exam is a written exam, which will contain some proportion of laboratory-type computer atlas images printed on the paper. There is no separate midterm laboratory exam.
- Case studies assignment: This is a new online tool we are developing for problem-solving skills. It will be available in the last 3-4 weeks of the course. We will give you further details when it it time to start thinking about the cases.
- Final Exam (2): There will be a written and a laboratory (practical) exam, which for the most part will cover material given after the midterm examination; but some proportion of the examination will be comprehensive (e.g., the relative positions and functional modalities of the long pathways). The laboratory exam will consist of "pinned " structures on wet specimens and on computer atlas images.
The possible total score for each examination is as follows:
| Quiz 1 | Quiz 2 | Quiz 3 | Quiz 4 | Midterm | Final Lab | Final Written |
| 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 50 | 50 | 50 |
|
To compute your total score for the quarter, simply add up the scores of your three best quizzes, plus your scores on the midterm and final examinations (=total overall score of 180 points). To express your score in percent simply divide by 180 and multiply by 100. You can convert your score to one out of 4.0, using the following table:
| Score in % | Score out of 4.0 |
| 92 | 3.9 |
| 88 | 3.5 |
| 85 | 3.2 |
| 82 | 2.9 |
| 78 | 2.5 |
| 75 | 2.2 |
| 72 | 1.9 |
| 68 | 1.5 |
| 65 | 1.2 |
| 62 | 0.9 |
